A plush heart: learning through playA drawing of the heart to help children understandAbout the doctor
A plush heart. Care we take very seriously.
I am Dr. Rafael, a doctor dedicated to children's hearts. Caring for a little heart also means giving a whole family peace of mind.
In the consulting room, a plush heart helps explain what the examination will show. With parents, there is no rush: every question deserves an answer, and every answer should be understood.
A child is not a small adult. Neither is their heart.

When to seek care
When to take your child to a pediatric cardiologist
Your pediatrician will often recommend an assessment. Here are some signs to watch for:
-
Heart murmur
Very common in children and usually harmless. An assessment can confirm this.
-
Tiredness during feeding or play
A baby who tires or sweats a lot during feeds; a child who gets tired more easily than others.
-
Shortness of breath
Fast or labored breathing with no obvious cause, even at rest.
-
Racing heart
A feeling that the heart is racing or beating irregularly.
-
Fainting or chest pain
Especially during exercise. This always needs to be assessed.
-
Sports clearance
An assessment before starting a sport or taking part in competitions.
-
Congenital heart disease
Diagnosis before or after birth, with follow-up as your child grows.
-
Family history
Heart disease or sudden death in young relatives.
Severe shortness of breath, bluish lips or fainting are emergency signs: seek emergency care.
Your visit
A visit that feels reassuring, from start to finish
Step 1: Booking
Quick and easy, through WhatsApp. We tell you what to bring: your child's health record, test results and medical reports.
Step 2: A conversation with the parents
Your child's history, symptoms and your concerns, with time for every question.
Step 3: A reassuring examination
Calm and playful. The teddy bear usually gets examined first — and that really helps.
Step 4: A clear plan
What we found and what happens next. You leave knowing exactly what to do.

While you have been on this page, a child's heart has already beaten0 times.
That is around 100 beats a minute, much faster than an adult's heart. Small, fast and very special.
Parents' questions
Questions every parent asks
Do not see your question here? Send it on WhatsApp. No question is too small when it comes to your child's heart.
What ages does a pediatric cardiologist see?
From newborns through the teenage years. Each stage needs its own care, and the visit is adapted to your child's age.
My child has a heart murmur. Is it serious?
Usually, no. Many childhood murmurs are innocent: just the sound of blood flowing through a healthy heart. A pediatric cardiologist can confirm this and, if needed, an echocardiogram can help clarify it.
Do I need a referral from a pediatrician?
A referral is not required for a private consultation. But if your pediatrician has written a report or requested tests, bring them along: they really help with the assessment.
What should I bring to the visit?
Your child's health record, previous test results (especially heart tests), medical reports and a list of medications they take.
Do heart tests hurt?
No. Electrocardiograms and echocardiograms are painless. We calmly explain each step beforehand so your child knows what to expect.
Do you accept health insurance? How much is a visit?
